Google Ads Wasted-Spend Audit · by Enroke
Is Google optimizing for the wrong thing?
Most accounts we open have at least one broken or misleading conversion. When the tracking is wrong, Smart Bidding spends your budget chasing the wrong result. In five business days we show you where the money goes, what is broken, and the exact fixes.
Case · AW Italian
of the online sales its own campaigns produced was all Google Ads could see.
AW Italian sells car parts online. Its purchase tag wasn't recording sales. GA4 kept counting the orders; Google Ads saw about 3% of them.
With purchases invisible, 93% of what Google counted as a “conversion” was a phone call. So Smart Bidding bought phone calls, including searches for other companies' phone numbers.
The Search campaign Google credited with 7% of conversions was actually driving 82% of the purchases from ads, on 46% of the spend. We made the real purchase the primary goal, stopped bidding on calls in that campaign, turned off Display and blocked the searches that never buy.
What the audit found at AW Italian
The campaign Ads ranked lowest was the one doing the work:
What we check
Every place the budget can leak.
Conversion tracking
Every conversion action: is it firing, is it counted twice, is the right one set as primary, does it match GA4 and your real sales.
Bidding vs. goals
Whether your bid strategy is chasing the result you actually want, and whether it has enough real signal to learn from.
Search terms
The queries you pay for that never convert: competitors, job seekers, support calls, irrelevant brands.
Networks and placements
Display, Search Partners and Performance Max placements that spend without selling.
Calls and forms
Whether phone calls and form fills on your site are tracked, and whether they're counted once per real lead.
The wasted-spend estimate
A dollar figure: how much of the last 90 days went to spend we believe produced nothing, and what fixing it is worth.
